NOFA-NH Winter Conference ~Daphne Miller MD

We are thrilled to announce that the Keynote Speaker for

the 16th Annual NOFA-NH Winter Conference

will be internationally acclaimed MD and author

Daphne Miller

Sunday, March 18 at Merrimack Valley High School in Concord

Daphne Miller is a practicing physician, author, and professor of family medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. For the past decade, her writing and teaching has explored the frontier between biomedicine and the natural world. Her first book,

The Jungle Effect, chronicles her nutrition adventures as she travels to traditional communities around the globe.

In Farmacology she sets out to learn health lessons from sustainable family farmers. Miller has contributed a health column to the Washington Post as well as other newspapers and magazines. Her medical degree is from Harvard University and she studied medical anthropology as an undergraduate at Brown University. She lives (and gardens) in Berkeley, California.

The day will be filled with authors and workshops,

including Philip Ackerman-Leist

discussing his just released

A Precautionary Tale;

How One Small Town Banned Pesticides, Preserved Its Food Heritage, and Inspired a Movement

and Michael Phillips, author of Mycorrhial Planet and The Holistic Orchard.

offering workshops on Fungal Consciousness, and Home Orchard Care.

Michael Phillips is renowned for helping people grow healthy fruit using herbal protocols. The “community orchard movement” that he helped found at www.GrowOrganicApples.com provides a full immersion into the holistic approach to orcharding. His Lost Nation Orchard is part of a medicinal herb farm in northern New Hampshire. He is the author of The Apple Grower and The Holistic Orchard which recently received Garden Book of the Year honors from the American Horticultural Society. His work has been compared with Sir Albert Howard and J.I. Rodale’s classic books on organic gardening. Michael’s latest, Mycorrhizal Planet: How Fungi and Plants Work Together to Create Dynamic Soils, will rock you!

Check out the NOFA-NH website for additional information on the latest additions in speakers and workshops and to register.
