Rebecca Rule's newest! N is for New Hampshire

We are thrilled to be able to launch the newest book from Rebecca Rule!

October 30 at 2 pm in The Gallery

Stunning photography from Henniker photographer Scott Snyder, being featured in The Gallery.

“N is for New Hampshire” is an alphabet book that introduces children to the sights, landscape, culture, and history of New Hampshire told through stories, anecdotes, verse, and fun facts. But this is no ordinary alphabet book. In “N is for New Hampshire,” each letter of the alphabet gets the full Rebecca Rule treatment. A short verse is a little story unto itself, and the text gives weird and wonderful background, delightful anecdotes, and useful information about the topic in a way that only New Hampshire’s foremost storyteller can.

New Hampshire celebrated in new children’s book

From Androscoggin to Zealand Falls, N is for New Hampshire will charm readers from 0 to 100. This new children’s alphabet book, coming this fall from Islandport Press, combines lively verses with informative text and beautiful photography to introduce children to this historic New England state. Written by New Hampshire storyteller Rebecca Rule, the book features images by Henniker photographer Scott Snyder.

The public is invited to join Rule and Snyder to celebrate the book’s release on Sunday, October 30, from 2 to 4 p.m. at MainStreet BookEnds, 16 East Maine Street, Warner, NH. Rule will read selections  from the book and emcee a New Hampshire trivia quiz, and Snyder’s photographs will be on display. Light refreshments will be served, and books will be available for sale and signing.

N is for New Hampshire is a 32-page hardcover alphabet picture book that uses stories, verse, fun facts, and photographs to show off the sights, landscape, culture, and history of New Hampshire. Each letter of the alphabet gets the full Rebecca Rule treatment. A short verse is a little story unto itself, and the text gives weird and wonderful background, delightful anecdotes, and useful information about the topic in a way that only New Hampshire’s foremost storyteller can.

Rebecca Rule is the author of the adult titles Live Free and Eat Pie! and Headin' for the Rhubarb: A New Hampshire Dictionary (well, kinda) and the award-winning children's book The Iciest, Diciest, Scariest Sled Ride Ever! She is also the author of three short story collections about New Hampshire. Rule is best known for her live storytelling events, many sponsored by the New Hampshire Humanities Council. For ten years she hosted the NH Authors Series on NHPTV. She now hosts Our Hometown also on NHPTV and online.

Scott Snyder is a professional wedding, portrait, and fine art landscape photographer based in Henniker, New Hampshire. He began his photographic career as a student at The Art Institute of Atlanta. He is a member of the Professional Photographers of New Hampshire, the New England Photography Guild, and the New Hampshire Artist Association. When not shooting weddings, people, and landscapes, he can often be found near the Atlantic coast or wandering in the White and Green Mountains.

“N is for New Hampshire” is the fourth in a series of New England-themed alphabet books for children by Islandport Press. Other books in the series include “B is for Berkshires,” “A is for Acadia” and “C is for Cape Cod.”
