Essex Farm to Consumers:

Community Focused Practices That Helped Us Grow

Essex Farm is a 1,500-acre sustainable, diversified farm in the Champlain Valley of Upstate New York offering a full diet, year-round CSA Membership with weekly on-farm pick up and direct door-to-door delivery. The farm produces healthy, transformative food, including vegetables, meats, dairy, eggs, grain, fruit, and more. Essex Farm has trained and mentored over 250 beginning farmers who have started more than 50 new farms to date. Providing hundreds of products for our year-round full food membership has changed how we think about food. Working with our farm team, other farmers, and the community has changed how we think about the world. Now, in our 19th season, we are excited to share stories with all of you. Join us as we share what has worked, what hasn’t worked, and what we are looking forward to in the next 20 years. We hope producers and consumers alike will join us in creating the next era of organic regenerative agricultural design.

They will also be giving workshops throughout the day, and Kristin is the author of two bestsellers.

Kristin Kimball has been farming for 20 years. Her two books, The Dirty Life and Good Husbandry tell the story of Essex Farm and the Kimball family. In charge of administration, CSA membership and animal health on the farm, she speaks to farming communities around the country.

Mark Kimball has been farming for 30 years and grew up on a homestead in the Southern Catskills. Skilled in vegetables, grain production, management, intensive grazing, butchering, and farm infrastructure, construction and repair. Mark leads the daily team of farmers at Essex Farm and works to make the farm and community healthy every day.
